This course focuses on developing fundamental drawing skills and techniques. Students learn to observe and translate their surroundings into visual representations through various media, such as pencil, charcoal, and ink. The course covers essential principles like line, form, value, perspective, and composition, while also emphasizing observational skills and accuracy.

Contour Drawing

This assignment is designed to improve visual sensitivity and enhance hand/eye coordination. Students learn to use lines to define form in contour lines define both the outer edges and the major divisions within a form. Through this exercise, students develop their ability to capture both the exterior and internal characteristics of objects with greater accuracy and depth.

Basic Still Life

LIGHTS

Students experiment with different techniques to create distinct textures and effects, enhancing their ability to represent objects in a compelling and expressive way. Learning to represent form, depth, and volume through shading, line variation, and texture, ultimately enhancing their ability to create more realistic and expressive drawings. The still life setting provides a controlled environment for refining observational skills and understanding how different materials and surfaces interact with light.

To learn the concept of form we copied example drawings and applied aspects like rendering halftones, identifying the core shadow, adding highlights, and rendering to build form and define value
